Nothing has officially teased the arrival of its next operating system, Nothing OS 4.0, built on Android 16. The update is expected to bring a revamped user interface, including redesigned icons, updated widgets, and fresh UI elements.
The company has confirmed that the rollout for Nothing OS 4.0 will begin later this month, bringing a cleaner and more polished experience to Nothing smartphone users.
Nothing OS 4.0 Stable Version Coming Soon After Closed Beta Rollout
A few weeks ago, UK-based smartphone maker Nothing teased its upcoming operating system, Nothing OS 4.0, built on Android 16, during the launch of its flagship Nothing Phone 3.
Shortly after, a post on the Nothing Community forum confirmed that the Closed Beta of Nothing OS 4.0 had started rolling out to select Nothing Phone 3 users. Now, the company has officially announced that the first stable release of Nothing OS 4.0 will be available soon, marking the next step in its software journey.
Nothing OS 4.0: Release Timeline, Features, and Eligible Devices
Nothing has announced via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the stable rollout of its Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 is coming soon. The teaser not only hints at the launch window but also gives a sneak peek into the refreshed UI design and icons.
New Features & Design Changes
The upcoming update is expected to introduce:

A new circular torch icon with a red torchlight design.

Redesigned circular icons for Bluetooth, dark mode, brightness controls, and other quick tools.

Additional circular icons, including an umbrella symbol and a wheel-like graphic, as teased in the video.

Release Timeline
Earlier, Nothing CEO Carl Pei confirmed that Nothing OS 4.0 would start rolling out in Autumn 2025. With this new announcement, the stable release appears imminent and could begin later this month.
